Just some added input to his already great answers..Try games like Crash Bandicoot, Tak and the Power of JuJu, Jak and Daxter (actually Jak II is out now), Rachet and Clank and a few others- some of these are probably a little more difficult than your older Mario based games, but the Cartoonish (yet expertly done)graphics will probably excite your child. Also playing PS2 online with dial-up is correct, but it will lag a good bit and you can get disconnected alot more.You will enjoy it I have all 3 systems and play my PS2 most of all.
